First Nations and Métis Initiatives
SaskCulture, along with its community partners, are working to support increased participation of First Nations and Métis peoples in cultural activity in Saskatchewan. Thanks to funding from the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund, various funding programs are available to support First Nations and Métis cultural leaders make a difference in their community.

The Aboriginal Arts and Culture Leadership Grant (AACL) provides partnership opportunities for non-profit organizations wishing to partner with an Aboriginal leader to work with a youth leader to bring traditional and new knowledge and skills to a community.

The Capacity Building Grant Program (CBG) provides funding to enhance operational capacity of a cultural organization, such as staff and board development, strategic initiatives, pilot projects, organizational development and evaluations.

The Métis Cultural Development fund (MCDF) supports activities that preserve, strengthen and transmit Métis culture and traditions in Saskatchewan. An emphasis is placed on children and building cultural leadership skills, transferring knowledge between generations, skills development, mentorship and having fun.

The Multicultural Initiatives Fund (MIF) has two streams. Through the MIF - Project Funding organizations who are primarily ethno-cultural or multicultural in nature may apply for funding for multicultural programming. The focus on creating a lasting community experience.

The ArtsSmarts program offers arts and education grants to schools, artists and community partnerships for innovative projects in any art form that brings K-12 students and professional artists together.

Formerly the Artist-in-residence Grant program, this programs supports opportunities that respond to community needs for development in the arts by engaging Saskatchewan artists to work and reside in communities, or work with schools, institutions or other organizations for an extended period.
